Sling Production Manger Appointed

Care & Independence have announced the internal appointment of Sarah Herring as the new Production Manager at their Bicester sling manufacturing site.

The internal promotion comes eight years after Sarah joined the company in the production administration department, where in recent years she had previously been fulfilling the role of assistant manager.    Sarah will now directly run the entire production for the popular and long-established glove sling™ range, as well as oversee the manufacturing of the up-and-coming comfort value™ sling range for multi-stockists such as community equipment stores.  The company’s sling production comprises in excess of 45 individual standard product lines with hundreds of different SKUs as well as bespoke ‘Specials’ in the region of a few hundred per year.

Of the appointment, Managing Director Ian Jones said “In Sarah we have a highly competent manager who has already proven to be a great support to the business.  As the kingpin for our sling production team, Sarah will play a critical role as we embark upon our growth plans in an exciting new chapter.”

As well as sling production and materials supply management, Sarah is also keen to review production capabilities.  “Due to an unprecedented increase in sales order volume this summer, we recently implemented a ‘Twilight Shift’ so we can keep up with demand!” Sarah explained.  This initiative has increased production efficiencies, with new machinists recruited to support the production volume.  Sarah also expressed a desire to build upon the team spirit.  “It is said ‘a happy workforce is a more productive workforce’ - that is something I want to capitalise onCare & Independence invest in people through training and onward development – I myself am one of these of those success stories.   I’d like the entire team to benefit from the sense of community spirit and of being part of the greater good,” she resolved.
